OUR STORY

Here at Franklin County Senior Services, we’re committed to enhancing the lives of the senior residents of our county.  Since 1980, we have been investing our expertise and resources in order to further achieve our cause. Since our inception, we’ve been supporting our community members in a variety of ways and measuring our success not by monetary size, but by more qualitative measurements such as the scale and effectiveness of our efforts. Just imagine what we can achieve together!

FINDING ANSWERS

Information & Assistance

I&A services are available by calling the FCSS office in West Frankfort, IL and the staff will provide information and assistance to seniors. Referals will then be made to other service providers in the community as necessary.

Eligibility

Franklin County residents 60 years of age and older are eligible for FCSS programs. Younger spouses of eligible residents may participate in the meals, and other programs.

Home Modifications

A service to to adapt  households to meet needs of older persons with physical disabilities including purchase of assisting devices.

Cost

Reasonable donations are suggested and appreciated for meals, transportation and in-home respite services, but no senior will be denied service if unable to make the suggested donation.

Legal Clinic Services

Services are provided through the Southern Illinois University School of Law are made available at the West Frankfort Senior Center on a regular basis. Assistance on a full range of civil legal issues including wills, trusts, ect., are provided to seniors free if charge by attorneys and law students. 

Referrals

Anyone may call (618)937-3511 to ask about a program or refer a senior to Franklin County Services. All requests for information and referrals will be treated with confidentiality.

Recreation/Education/Reaching Out Through Others

When services are not directly available through Franklin County Senior Services, referrals are made to other programs and agencies as appropriate.

Assistance with Government Programs

Such as Benefit Access, Social Security, Homestead Exemption, Guardianship & Advocacy, Medicare, mental health, income tax, food stamps, and other medical services are provided by FCSS.

We are funded wholly & partially by the Egyptian Area Agency on Aging through the Older Americans Act.
